Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

Workshops! Destination: La Douce France

Workshops! Destination: La Douce France

About a year ago, I couldn't quite imagine that I would be traveling around the Netherlands and Europe, teaching workshops to groups of people in person! But it's actually happening, and I feel so lucky.

Germany

A week ago I came back from Germany, where I was invited by Waldecken10 to teach a weekend workshop; Drawing Out in the Wild. Once the workshop was online, it was sold out within days! I guess many of us have the itch to go on an adventure (and yeah, to selfishly escape from reality for just a little bit). I spent the weekend with a wonderful group of 10 students in a mansion in the German Eiffel, and combined drawing classes with forest hikes, enjoying nature and eating good food. I had so much fun teaching my classes and the students were all courageous to step out of their comfort zones and play in their sketchbooks. I made a clip that summarizes the three days of fun we had. You can watch that here. I may teach this workshop again in Germany - we don't have a date yet, stay tuned!

From Rotterdam to Paris

Before the Germany adventure, Sabine Wisman (artist, illustrator and creative coach) and I hosted our second City Drawing Trip; a workshop weekend in Rotterdam. This trip had been planned, then cancelled, then planned again, postponed, and finally, we had a wonderful group of artists drawing all day, and night, for two and a half days!

During the weekend, Sabine and I started plotting our next City Drawing Trip. We'll be hosting it in.... Paris! It'll be on 8, 9 and 10 July

The workshop is only for people who speak Dutch! So I'll write this bit in Dutch for those who speak it:

Als je mee gaat naar Parijs met Sabine en mij, dan krijg je twee overnachtingen in de allerleukste buurt vlakbij Le Marais en Canal Saint Martin, vier inspirerende workshops van Koosje en Sabine, een portrait party, dagelijkse start-meeting, een e-book, vervoer in Parijs, en een goodie bag. Volg deze link als het je wel wat lijkt!

But Wait, There's More!

Don't be disappointed if you don't speak Dutch. I have another Paris workshop coming up and I am very excited about it! Artist, author and creative coach Cynthia Morris (with me at a Paris terrace on the photo here) invited me to teach in a workshop in Paris, in fall: Paris Sketchbook.

In Paris Sketchbook I’m teaching alongside four other teachers, all world-renowned sketchbook artists. Marty Gregg, Lisa Sonora, Marcus McAllister and Cynthia Morris. It'll be a week of fun, adventure, and learning for everyone.

This awesomeness will take place September 27 - October 2, 2022 All the information is here.

And That's Still Not All

If you're not that into Paris, but you would like to explore France, you might like an art vacation at the French Riviera September 4-10! Step away from your everyday life and fully experience the food, culture, and landscape, while you capture your experiences and memories in your sketchbook.

We'll be staying in a charming, historic hotel in central Nice, France, and from there we'll do day trips. I'll teach art classes every day. Suzy and Jeannette, from The Blue Walk are fantastic hosts and will make this a unique experience. If you'd like to join me on this six-day adventure, don't hesitate too long because there are just a couple of spots left! You'll find all information here.

Online Drawing Parties

If you're not the traveling type, or you just can't - then maybe you'd like to join one of my live online drawing parties. Maybe we'll even draw croissants!

We'll meet on Zoom to draw together. I will prepare instruction and an assignment for us all to work at during the hour. Together we'll be celebrating creativity!
