Drawing With A Pencil

Drawing With A Pencil

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Today I am drawing with a very reliable tool: the pencil.

I am drawing the same subject again, believe it or not. Maybe you think that I don't have a lot of imagination, taking the same subject over and over, but I just want to show you that it doesn't matter what you draw. Every time you draw, even if you're drawing the same thing, the drawing will come out completely different, and the whole process will also be completely different.

The pencil is a great tool, with wonderful features. When you add more pressure, you can get really dark areas, and with soft strokes, you can get the lightest tones possible. It's really kind of magic.

Do NOT use an eraser. Embrace wonkiness, let's not erase mistakes. You would only be emphasizing on the things you're not happy with, focusing on 'mistakes' and 'flaws, that actually become part of the drawing that is so YOU.

Having an eraser in hand may make you feel safe, but you already ARE safe; remember it's just a drawing!
