Urban Sketching Drawing Date
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Let's go urban sketching by drawing on location.
In this video, I am drawing one of the medieval city wall gates in Amersfoort, my hometown. I took a photo every two minutes during the 25-minute process, because I think it will be helpful to see how I moved around on the paper, what kind of decisions I took, and you can see the drawing grow.
From initial lines to shadows, contrast, and a splash of color.
Now, it's your turn!
Your assignment for the week: go on a drawing date with yourself.
It doesn't have to be extravagant—just grab your sketchbook and pen. Make sure it's in your bag.
For example, if you're going to the supermarket, take an extra 5 minutes to draw on the corner of the shop, or in the parking lot... well, you'll figure it out. Sketch your surroundings!
