Same But Different
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Does it ever happen to you that you're ready to draw, you have your sketchbook open, you sip from the drink you poured yourself... and then you don't know WHAT to draw?
Well, draw that drink you just took a sip of.
"Wait, what?", I can hear you (or your inner critic) say. "Draw it again? I've already drawn that mug so many times!" Yes. Draw it again. And you're not going to draw it just once, but THREE times!
Here's your assignment for this week: Pick a subject and draw it three times.
1. Use your normal view
2. Stand tall above it for a bird's eye view
3. Lower down (or prop your subject up high on the table) for a worm's eye view
Before you know it, you have forgotten about all the chatter in your head about "nothing to draw". You've explored your subject in three different ways. I love doing this. It's a great exercise to practice perspective and to think a bit more out of the box. You're an artist, so you can use your artist mindset!
