Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

August Mini-Workshop! Will you join?

August Mini-Workshop! Will you join?

Wow, did I bring myself into trouble by biting off more than I could chew during my last mini-workshop!

I was managing tech issues and explaining the negative spaces-approach of drawing/painting the sky first, then the ground, and then start with details. I got into trouble during the second drawing. I didn’t mind though, because it’s all part of the learning curve and the drawing process.
And the participants didn’t mind either. When they saw me tripping over the electrical pole (see drawing), and trying to draw the negative space around the wires, they knew that they would decide otherwise, and draw the pole and wires after drawing the big shape of the sky. Some of them told me that they had experienced seeing me “struggle”, was motivating for them. “Even accomplished artists make mistakes.”

We all know that it’s not about the results so much, but about the process. The act of drawing, and then doing it together in these mini-workshops adds even more fun and encouragement. Seeing everyone’s drawings by the end of the session is inspiring. Every time when we get to the end of a session and people hold up their sketchbooks in front of the camera, I feel so proud of how brave everyone is. Taking up a creative challenge and then maybe feeling vulnerable about the drawing, but showing it so everyone can learn from one another.

You can imagine that I am very much looking forward to next month’s Mini-workshop already! Will you be joining the next session in August? I'd love to see you there.

Save the date:

Thursday August 24, 5 PM Central European Time 11 AM EDT 8 AM PST (convert to your timezone here)

This is how it works:
We'll meet on Zoom and draw together.
I will prepare instruction and an assignment for us to work on, during  the 90-minute-session. By the end of the session, there will be time for a "show & tell", during which everyone who wants to, can share their drawings and ask questions, so we can learn from each other.  You can learn a lot by looking at each other's art.
No obligations there - it's totally OK if you want to keep your art to yourself.

Clear your calendar for these 90 minutes of creative time just for YOU, and bring your favorite art tools.
Go here to sign up!

If  you can't make it to the event, even though you signed up for it; you  can watch the recorded video of the session, which I'll send you via EventBrite within 24 hours after the event.

I hope to see you on Zoom!
