The Making of… part 1

Posted by Koosje Koene in ArtJournal, sketchbook on September 24, 2018

Last week, the new Sketchbook Skool kourse “Watercolor Rules! And how to break them” launched. I am so excited for this kourse to have started, and I’m not the only one!

This is what one of the students said last week, just a few days in: “Fabulous class, worth the price for this class alone! Ian is charming! Great basics, tips & demo!”

Exclamation points all over!

Producing the kourse has been such a journey, and I enjoyed (almost) every bit of it. And to show you how much fun it is to work so closely with an artist and a great film crew – here’s a behind-the-scenes video I made while I was in London, filming Ian Sidaway. Ian is our watercolor expert and covers three weeks in the 6-week course, showing us many techniques and teaching us clever tricks… and how to break all the rules as well!

You can still join us and dive into the world of watercolors.

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels.
