Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

The first page of your sketchbook

The first page of your sketchbook

Every time that I have filled up another sketchbook (which is about monthly-ish), I pick a new one to start right away . One of the habits, and maybe even rituals, that I have developed over the years is to put my contact details in my sketchbook.

Every artist should do this.

In case you lose it somehow, then at least the person who finds it knows how to contact you, and will hopefully help getting the sketchbook back to you. I know a few sketchers who have gotten their sketchbooks back this way after accidentally leaving it on public transport.

Another benefit of doing this, is that you can dive right into the new sketchbook without overthinking. It’s an opportunity for you and your sketchbook to get acquainted. You’ll find out how your materials behave on its paper and you can get used to the format and size.

Materials used in this “first pager” in a Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook size A4:
-Sailor fountain pen with calligraphy nib, filled with Platinum Carbon Black ink
-Daniel Smith watercolors
-Pentel Aquash waterbrush
-Caran d’Ache Luminance colored pencils
