Drawing With A Dip Pen
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Today, I'm using that same reference photo of the bananas again, of our brush pen exercise a couple of weeks ago. This time, we'll use a different drawing tool.
We'll use the "blob" technique again, putting paint on paper first in kind of a sloppy way (great to get over the fear of the blank page - just doing it, quickly). Then we'll see how much information we want to add with line.
While I talk you through the process, I'll also share my thoughts about how to develop a style as an artist (spoiler alert: you already have a style!).
Materials used in this video:
-Watercolors (Daniel Smith)
-Waterbrushpen (Pentel)
-Dip Pen, chrome g-nib (Zebra )
-India Ink (Sennelier)
Your assignment this week:
Explore and have fun drawing with a dip pen. If you don't have a dip pen, find something else with ink; I'm pretty sure you'll have something suitable in your art supplies stash. Or maybe even dip a skewer into a bottle of ink and see if you can draw with that. Why not?
