Drawing in Public
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
In today’s video, I am taking you out on location, to draw in public. I went for a walk and decided on a whim to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather, by finding a good spot to sit and draw in my sketchbook.
I found that spot in the middle of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, at a cafe that’s been there forever - and I’ve been coming there forever because I grew up not far from the park.
Before starting to draw, I ordered a cup of tea and rigged up my camera for you in an amateurish way because I hadn’t planned this, but did want to share the process with you.
It took me about 20 minutes to drink the tea and finish the drawing, while pondering the challenges (“What will people think?”) of drawing on location.
What a wonderful treat on a Sunny fall day in Amsterdam!
