Today, I handed the keys back to the owner of what used to be my studio. All my stuff is moved into my small home office (which I now desperately need to reorganize!), and all of the studio plants are now looking pretty happy in our living room.
But it’s not just the studio I am moving from. There’s an even bigger decision I made.
After 7 years, I’ve decided to step down from the management of Sketchbook Skool. It’s a very, very difficult decision, but it’s the right thing for me to do.
This is a positive change.
Sketchbook Skool means so much to me, but it’s been a large part of my life, and I realize that I have put a lot of things on pause over the years. Now I’m ready to free up some time for other projects. I’m looking forward to what’s next. I don’t know exactly what that will be yet, but I am confident I will figure it out. And of course I’ll keep you posted!
I’m so proud of what I’ve created here alongside Danny and the team. I could never have guessed that we would grow such an amazing community and I’m overwhelmingly thankful.
I’ll still share Draw Tip Tuesday videos every week. I’ll still post my art and share my process and creative endeavors with you.
I’m just not running a US based business anymore.

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
