Travel Journaling – part 4 of 4

Airplane drawings

Last but not least in my series of recent travel sketches: when traveling to or from your destination, there’s always waiting involved. Waiting at the train of bus platform, waiting for the plane, driving in the backseat of a cab, sitting on the plane, train, bus, boat… these are all great moments to draw.

Personally, I enjoy drawing on the plane a lot. Even though your view is limited, the drawings always turn out to be very different!

If you have no turbulence, that’s comfortable for both the journey and the drawing. But when your lines are shaky or wobbly that’ll be part of the charm of the drawing.

I loved the peek through, seeing this spanish man with his characteristic features!

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels.
