A sketchbook can tell so much about a person. It’s kind of like looking in someone’s purse. The items in there are very personal. Also, the way they are organized in the bag says a lot about the state of mind of the owner.
In fact, that makes me think I should draw the contents of my bag again soon. They change overtime, but some things stay the same. And it’s a great subject to draw if you don’t feel inspired.
Anywho, sketchbook pages are just as personal – and each page tells a little part of a story. In my sketchbooks, you can see how important food is to me. I love taking little moments to drink a cup of coffee. I absolutely love eating with others and sharing food. I never skip a meal – I just like eating too much! And yes, it only make sense that I often draw about it in my sketchbook.
Here’s just a random collection of pages in my current sketchbook that are all about food and/or drinks.
Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
