To get into the habit of daily drawing from imagination…. you’ll simply have to do it daily!
Nina Johansson’s week in Sketchbook Skool’s kourse ‘Imagining’, is all about this!
In this last week of the kourse, Nina shares her experiences, tips and tricks to draw from your imagination. Last year, she felt like she needed to loosen up. She wondered where the wild imagination had gone, that she had when she was a kid. And so she bought a simple diary, with one page for each day of the year, and she committed herself to make one drawing a day for the whole year. And she did stick to it. The drawings she made are all done in fineliner, and each page is a story in itself. She discovered recurring characters, and found ways to draw complicated, or unlikely scenes and subjects.
Our homework in klass this week is to make a drawing from imagination every day at least for one week. So here’s a video of what I have been doing so far.
Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
