Moments To Remember

Posted by Koosje Koene in ArtJournal, Draw Tip, sketchbook on August 13, 2017

As I was flipping through my art journal, once again, I realized that even though some of the drawings or subjects seem rather random, they are all drawings of moments I chose. Sure, I could have snapped a picture of the family dinner we had that Monday evening for example, but it would never have captured the wonderful vibe at the table. And also: the others took pictures anyway, and they might have even be shared on Facebook.

What I mean to say is that the drawings I am posting below, are all very important and significant moments that mean so much to me. YOU might not see all the layers of memories, but I sure do. And even years from now, when this sketchbook is gathering dust on the shelf, the memories will vividly come back to me when I pick it up and look at its pages.

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels.

Don’t they say so much without words? That’s the magic of pictures, especially the ones you got around to put down yourself. And the memories come back like when you go around in a clothes shop letting your hand touch the fabrics on the go. Love that.
    Thanks for drawing and sharing.
