Life gets in the way. ‘I’m too tired to pick up a pen’. ‘I don’t feel inspired’.
These are all legitimate excuses to leave your sketchbook in your bag or at the table and binge on some show on Netflix. But are they really? Does a few hours of watching TV really make you that happy? For me, even a five minute drawing is so much more rewarding and satisfying! And the strange thing is, I am still surprised by that every single time.
So you need to remind yourself to keep up with the habit of making art. You can do it and you know it. But a little nudge and support is always welcome, right?
So here’s a tip:
Sketchbook Skool initiated a 365 project, available for anybody who runs out of ideas or inspiration. It’s a simple online drawing challenge, that’s hashtagged #sbsadrawingaday. I religiously followed the prompts in January but felt the need to come up with my own ideas in February so skipped the prompts.
Here’s the list of prompts in March. You can follow the daily prompts or just pick any to spark an idea:
Joining the challenge is simple. You can share your art on social media (twitter, instagram, facebook) and use the hashtag #sbsadrawingaday. Have fun!
Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
