Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday and happy new year!
With the start of the new year, you might have all sorts of creative ideas, goals or resolutions. Or maybe you chose a particular word that will guide you this year… Whatever you do, I hope 2020 will bring you lots of creativity. And I am planning to keep giving you little nudges through Draw Tip Tuesday!
Today, let’s do some simple and fun brush lettering.
Grab a brush and ink, or a brush marker. Whatever you have at hand. Use your hand writing, practice block letters, mimic script letter fonts, or just do a little bit of playing and free styling. On the downstrokes of your letters, use a bit more pressure, and release pressure on the upstrokes. And very important: relax your hand. And have fun!

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
