Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Drawing faces is a great practice, and you can do it from the comfort of your living room! I combine watching TV often with drawing. You can do it too. Just pause the screen for a few minutes to draw someone’s face, and then hit ‘play’ again, until you see another close up that you’d like to pause and draw.
Let’s draw some faces today.
We’ll use a Pentel Pocket brush pen. The brush tip will prevent you from getting into details. And for the shading we’re using a felt tip brush pen from Faber-Castell. Don’t worry if you don’t have these: You can use a brush and watercolors, or whatever medium you like. But let’s keep it simple; just black and grey – so we can focus on shapes and shades.

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
