Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
I love lettering! You can use it for adding lettering to your sketchbook pages, on top of mixed media… or simply play with the shapes of the letters. Take a look at the brushes you have and try the different effects. See what you can do with their flexibility or sturdiness. A flat brush will allow you to do a different kind of lettering than a round brush. Working with a small brush will feel kind of like writing and using a big brush makes you paint the letters rather than write them.
Try loading your brush up with lots of paint, or use the bristles for more textured strokes.
Have fun, play around!

Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
