Coffee and The Sketchbook Habit
In a previous post, I wrote about how I love to sit at cafés to sip coffee and draw in my sketchbook.
Well, I guess caffeine fuels my sketchbook habit. Taking a moment for a freshly brewed cup of coffee means also taking time to make a drawing – even if it’s just a quick one.
This page will always remind me of sneaking out for a quick break of work together with my husband – the weather was gorgeous so we sat outside on the terrace at the corner of the canal we live at. Not at a café but at the kitchen table: This is what we make our coffee with (or well, it’s one of the several methods we use – yup we’re coffee freaks): A quick drawing of a very familiar place from past times, before visiting a friend: Hunting for mini-sketchbooks to send to a friend – I found them, and I couldn’t resist getting a cup of coffee sitting in the sun at the coffee shop right next door to the shop:
Hi I'm Koosje. I'm an illustrator and art teacher in Amsterdam, where I was born and raised. I went to school to study graphic design, then worked for ten years as an award-winning professional photographer. But eventually my love of drawing and painting took over and I became an illustrator. My illustrations have been published in many Dutch magazines and in 2011, I began blogging and started developing and teaching online art classes. In 2014 I founded Sketchbook Skool, which is a flourishing community of artists from around the world of all skill levels. View all posts by Koosje Koene
